Student Health

Covered by SHIP: As a student, you are automatically enrolled in UCR’s Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) and exempt from purchasing a plan on the Covered CA website or your home state exchange. SHIP meets the requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), gives you nationwide coverage, and offers the big advantage of convenient, on-campus care. Find out more about SHIP.

Campus Health Center

UCR’s Campus Health Center provides convenient, affordable and easily accessible medical care to students. All registered students are eligible to use the center. Students with the UC Student Health Insurance Plan have no out-of-pocket expenses for doctor’s visits. Student’s with private insurance will have to pay upfront for services. A statement will be presented to students to submit for possible reimbursement with their private carrier. Students who have opted out of the insurance but have chosen Highlander Care have urgent care services covered for a quarterly fee of $88. For more information please visit the Student Health website under the insurance tab. Lab work, X-rays, procedures and pharmaceuticals carry a range of fees. For appointments, call (951) 827-3031.
