UCR is a diverse and vibrant community where international knowledge, ideas and skills are infused into all aspects of the university.

To advance UCR’s 2020 mission, International Affairs serves as a catalyst, sparking new projects and accelerating existing international activities. By adding an international dimension to teaching, research and community engagement, UC Riverside will continue to honor its commitment to engaging diverse voices and ideas.

International Affairs works with the entire university to increase research opportunities, enhance scholarship and educational programs, strengthen international experiences, and build collaborative partnerships around the world.

The International Affairs Office (IAO) consists of three core units: International Students and Scholars (ISS), Education Abroad (EA), and International Affairs Administration, Business and Communications (ABC). International Affairs promotes education abroad programs for students, supports international students and scholars on the UCR campus, and enhances collaborative research opportunities for faculty. These units work collaboratively to expand international opportunities for students, faculty and staff at home and abroad.

Goals for an internationally vibrant UC Riverside (taken from general framework)

  • With effective teaching, educate students to be internationally knowledgeable in their disciplines
  • Advance our land-grant mission by assisting the City of Riverside, the Inland Empire and the state of California in their strategic international economic partnerships
  • By the strengths of its research, teaching and engagement, position UCR as a globally vibrant and influential university
