Staff Assembly

Advocates for our Staff

At UC Riverside, our staff members have a voice for important issues that affect the workplace and their lives. That voice is the Staff Assembly, a body that promotes the interests and well-being of all staff career employees as allowed by law. The Staff Assembly works in conjunction with the Office of the Chancellor to support the university's mission.

All career staff employees are members of the Staff Assembly and are invited to attend quarterly meetings. Members also are encouraged to run for an Executive Board position or become a member of a standing committee. Elections are held in the spring and terms run through the academic year.

UCR Staff Assembly is a branch of the Council of University of California Staff Assemblies (CUCSA), which formed in 1974 to improve communications between UC administration and staff and among the staff of the individual campuses

Our Staff Assembly also sponsors social events and outings, such as a winter holiday party and trips to the Long Beach Aquarium, recognizes outstanding staff at an annual awards ceremony, participates in philanthropic and community service activities and raises money for Staff Assembly Enrichment Scholarships.

Staff Assembly Enrichment Scholarships support activities that enrich the personal and professional lives of UCR staff. All career staff employees who have completed the probation period are eligible to apply. Scholarships are available in one of three categories:

  • Career development, including certificate programs, career development conferences, workshops, or course.
  • Degree attainment expense.
  • Personal development and growth, such as self-improvement programs, exercise classes, and yoga.
