Overseas Study Opportunities for UCR Students

United States map, students and Arc de Triomphe: Paris, France

Education Abroad is UCR Students’ gateway to high-quality international opportunities, offered through academic coursework, experiential learning, and cultural/language immersion to cultivate intercultural understanding and collaboration, while acquiring the skills to work in a global marketplace. Support services include advising, resource library on international opportunities, travel planning, and scholarships. Below are the following programs our office supports:

  • UC Education Abroad Program
The UC Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) is the University of California’s official study abroad program provider. UCEAP offers full-year and short-term programs in a wide range of academic disciplines. UCEAP offers all the benefits of taking courses at UCR, which include UC credit, grades, and financial aid that travels with you.
  • UCR Summer Study Abroad Program
UCR Summer Study Abroad (UCRSSA) offers UC courses in an international setting with UCR professors and the opportunity to conduct research, collaborate with students from other countries and get first-hand experience in another culture. Students travel with their instructor and generally earn eight units of credit during each five-week session. Recent destinations have included Madrid, London and Tokyo.
  • Opportunities Abroad Program
Opportunity Abroad Programs (OAP) is any type of abroad experience offered by other UC campuses and non-UC study abroad programs which are governed by UCR’s Planned Opportunities Abroad Agreements (POAA). POAA provides UCR students access to non-University of California study abroad programs, permitting them to study abroad for transfer credit and to use eligible financial aid for direct enrollment or through a third party.

  • Overseas Job Opportunities
If you are looking to work overseas, the UCR Career Center can be a great place to start your search. Their website provides travel information and lists of programs that can help get you started.
