Scholarship Stories: Sean O'Grady

Sean O'Grady

Sean O'Grady was accepted at other UC’s, but chose UCR because of the Chancellor’s Scholarship he received. Sean grew to love UCR because of “the leadership opportunities, and the professors who care.”

O'Grady wanted to get the most out of his time at UCR, joining the Honors Program and becoming a peer mentor. He served the university as chair of the Chancellor's Registration Fee Advisory Committee, and works 20 hours a week for CHASS as a student advisory specialist.

During his senior year, Sean was awarded an internship from the Ron Loveridge Program in Public Service Endowed Fund. Sean is "very grateful for the scholarships" UCR has given him.

Sean believes that giving to UCR sets a positive example for scholarship recipients, one that will make them more likely to give back to the campus and to their community after graduation.

Sean said that he would love to work at UCR after graduation and that he hopes to give back to the school that has "done so much" for him.
