The Ethnic and Gender Program Offices create multiple opportunities for students to engage in cultural growth and development, and build the skills needed to lead and succeed in a diverse world. Through student support services, community involvement, multi-cultural events and leadership training, the Ethnic and Gender programs prepare students to invent the future of our global community.
African Student Programs
As part of the student support network, African Student Programs is vital in challenging, inspiring, embracing and enriching the overall student life experience through extra curricular activities, educational programs and cultural collaboration.
Asian Pacific Student Programs Office
Through student support services, cultural events and community outreach, the Asian Pacific Student Programs Office plays an important role in celebrating and supporting the university's diversity.
Chicano Student Programs
Chicano Student Programs is designed to meet the educational needs of Chicano/Latino students on campus. The office provides leadership and organizational development through various clubs and activities along with a bridge of communication among students, faculty and staff for optimum networking. Annual events offered by the program promote enrichment, awareness and pride in Chicano/Latino culture.
Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center
The LGBT Resource Center provides support, education and advocacy regarding sexual orientation and gender identity for the UC Riverside community, through campus-wide programming and safe space in 245 Costo Hall.
Native American Student Programs
The Native American Student Programs (NASP) office provides educational, cultural and social support for American Indian students. It expands education awareness for American Indian students as well as the campus community. Through active participation and innovative programs, NASP encourages the development and enhancement of leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
Women's Resource Center
The Women's Resource Center (WRC) uses advocacy, education and enrichment activities to foster student success and provide awareness on women's and men's issues and concerns, with the intent of self-empowerment and pro-active response. The WRC offers a space where students can develop educationally, culturally, socially and professionally.
The Campus Safety Escort Service is run through the WRC and provides trained student escorts to walk members of the campus community to their destinations on university property:
- The CSES is dispatched from the lobby of the Tomás Rivera Library.
- Hours: Sunday through Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to midnight during fall and winter quarters and from 8:00 p.m. to midnight during spring quarter.
- To request an escort, call (951) 827-3772, or use a CSES telephone located in most campus buildings.
- After midnight, the UCR Campus Police will gladly provide an escort. Call (951) 827-5222.
