Senior Class Gift

Senior Class Gift

The Senior Class Gift is your first opportunity to give back to UCR. The money raised through the Senior Gift campaign is designed to provide funding for the needs of the campus that are not generally supported by tuition or by state funds.

This year, your elected ASUCR government has chosen to launch a Raising The Bear Campaign in order to raise money for a life-size bronze statue of Scotty the Bear.  This Senior Class Gift will reside in the HUB (formerly the Commons) and will become a landmark on our campus.

Graduating seniors are encouraged to show their Highlander pride by contributing $20.09 in honor of the Class of 2009. If every senior participates at this level we will help raise over $60,000 in homage to our mascot. Leave your "paw print" by making a gift today!

Any gift, regardless of size, is welcome and will be recognized in the Honor Roll of Donors in the Commencement Program. (gifts must be made by May 11th).

Why We Give...
Whether or not you received financial aid while you are at UCR, your education has been partially financed by private support. Tuition and state funding makes up less than two-thirds of the actual cost of UCR education — gifts from alumni, parents and friends make up the rest.

The Class of 2009 and future classes have been fortunate to receive support from those who came before us. It is now our turn to continue the tradition for current and future students.

Carrying on the Tradition

The big "C" on Box Springs Mountain is considered the first gift from students to UCR in 1955. Since that time, seniors have made gifts to the campus that include:

  • Scholarship support for future students
  • Support for the Learning Center
  • The mural in the Science Library
  • Funds to re-plant trees lost during construction
