Summer Travel Study

The Summer Travel Study program allows students to take UCR courses during the summer while enjoying the cultural enrichment that is derived from traveling abroad. Faculty can also benefit from this opportunity to teach abroad during the five-week summer session.

The session is much shorter than the traditional quarter, just five weeks, but classes meet more frequently in order to provide the required amount of hours of interaction between faculty members and students. This allows faculty to work closely with interested students on topics that are of interest to faculty members and students alike.

The sessions also bring teacher and student in closer contact with the local community to which they have traveled. The program allows faculty members to spread their wings a bit and show interested students the depth of knowledge a faculty member may have on a specific topic.

The faculty member often has prior interaction with the host institution and can utilize its resources within the coursework. The mixture of academics, travel, language and culture makes for a strong learning experience for the students and a rewarding teaching experience for faculty.

Summer Travel Study is now accepting proposals from UCR faculty for future programs.
