UCR has long been known as a community of scholars dedicated to excellence. Faculty members make discovery a priority and their work makes a difference across the region, the state and the nation.
This work has been recognized across the world and has resulted in our university being highly ranked in a number of prestigious areas. UCR is one of 10 in the University of California system and the only public research university in the fast-growing area of Inland Southern California.
The Princeton Review named UCR one of the top 123 best Western colleges and one of America's Best Value Colleges. It praised the university for its small classes, helpful professors, and excellent pre-medical education program. It also praised the university for providing a network of clubs and organizations that unite a diverse student body.
U.S. News & World Report Ranked UCR Highly Among More Than 1,900 schools in 2007, including:
- 3rd in ethnic diversity
- 39th among top public universities
- 83rd for undergraduate business programs
- 88th among best universities, either public or private
Washington Monthly Ranked UCR 15th in Social Relevance Among the Nation's Top Colleges and Universities in 2007.
The 2005 Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index from Academic Analytics ranked UCR:
- 1st in soil science
- 5th in environmental health engineering
- 8th in environmental sciences
- 10th in plant pathology
- 10th in botany and plant biology
