Recognizing Great Educators
Educators, researchers and staff who work at UCR are part of a university on the rise, powered by an entrepreneurial spirit, a record of innovation and results and a commitment to excellence and collaboration across disciplines.
The university benefits from the cumulative knowledge of many long-time faculty members. It also recognizes its outstanding young faculty through the University Scholars program, which is designed for tenured faculty members who are in the early stages of their careers.
The awards are selected and given by the Office of the Executive Vice-Chancellor and Provost , and are designed to help young scholars reach their full potential. Recent recipients include:
- Xuemei Chen, associate professor of plant cell and molecular biology.
- Cheryl Hayashi, associate professor of biology.
- Gloria Gonzalez-Rivera, professor and chair of economics.
- John Medearis, associate professor of political science.
Going Abroad — Not Just for Students
