Every day in our labs and classrooms, UC Riverside geneticists, biologists, psychologists, entomologists and engineers are living the promise of world-class healthcare and transforming the quality of life for millions of Inland Southern California residents:
- UCR biochemists have discovered how to grow bone cells on a scaffold out of carbon nanotubes, leading to new treatments for osteoporosis, abnormal bone development, and dental implants.
- Exploring the connection between insulin and wound-healing, UCR faculty are discovering new approaches to treatments for diabetes.
- The prestigious UCR/UCLA Thomas Haider Program in Biomedical Sciences has provided medical training to more than 600 UCR alumni who now serve their communities as physicians, practicing in every area of medicine.
- To build on its strengths in stem cell, genomics, nanoscience and public health research, UCR is developing a new School of Medicine.
